HELLO DARLIN.

NICE TO SEE YA.

If you sang this line, we will get along juuuuuust fine. Thanks so much for taking the time to visit! Allow me to introduce myself, and attempt to summarize what it is that I’m doing here in the Blogosphere. (Key word is attempt. Those of you who know me know that I tend to write short novels for e-mails and my voice mails more closely resemble Shakespearian soliloquies than “call me backs.”) Runs in the family. Alas, that is I. Who am I you ask? Kathy… a not so typical Photographer. Greeting card business enthusiast. Multi-passionate entrepreneur. Idea girl. Dreamer. Lover of life. Happy. Most days my brain is racing so fast with ideas and things I want to do, that I feel I’m too passionate for my own good. Who am I not? Perfectly organized. A fantastic housekeeper or gardener. My shoe collection would make Carrie Bradshaw cringe, and I get more excited about a good vintage score at Frenchy’s than I ever would about a Prada purse. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a fine set of heels like the next girl, but I just don't believe we have to spend the family fortune to look put together. I’m a pretty simple gal who believes there is a time and a place for everything. Including but not limited to: gummy bears, boxed wine, Zoodles, Mr. Noodles and occasionally (okay... very occasionally) Beefaroni. There, I said it, and frankly it feels quite good to get it off my chest. So it's no secret that I am fairly passionate, and put a lot of heart and soul into the things that inspire me. That means in business and in life because I feel like the two are really intertwined anyway - "How you do anything is how you do everything!" I believe that Confucius was right when he said "Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it". I have realized over time that I can't help but see beauty. It is a problem at times. (Forget texting and driving, one shouldn't be permitted to "see beauty", or potential photo session locations for that matter, while driving.) I digress. When beauty jumps out of the world at you, it is easy to become passionate about photography - for me, it is a way to relay to others the beauty that I see in my minds eye. Life is short, this we all know. We are meant to enjoy it, appreciating and celebrating those who are important to us, in this lifetime. This blog is an immediate outlet for me to express and humour myself (and those who stumble by) attach sneak peeks of the happenings here at Legacy Junction Studios, offer fun contests and specials, and chronicle what’s going on in my crazy world. Feel free to sniff around - just promise not to laugh at my wordiness, okay? I truly can't resist! If you know me, you KNOW that is true! (To thine own self be true, no?) Thanks so much for stopping by. I’m so humbled and flattered that you’ve visited and would love to know! You’re welcome and encouraged to leave comments, and say hello!

GOODBYE KATHY DUGUAY PHOTOGRAPHY

And Hello Legacy Junction.
Legacy Junction Studios to be precise.

So yep.  It's official.  Big changes happening here.  Out with the old, in with the new.

I need you to forget anything you previously knew about Kathy Duguay Photography.  Wait.  How presumptuous of me.  That is to say, if you knew anything at all.  I have been quite the secretive business ninja as of late, and have been pulling some bizarre tactics in attempts to divert any attention whatsoever from this blog.  Not my finest business hour hours, but I simply had to take the necessary time to figure this all out, get it right and stop flip flopping.  I didn't want to do it publicly.  I needed to do my soul searching and business debating behind the scenes before moving forward confidently with the changes.  After all, what is a bit of time in the grand scheme of things? So.  If you will.  Please join me in tossing my old business name to the curb.  Get it out of your head.  Erase.  Re-format.  (PUN intended, tee hee.)  I would be honoured if you would join me in celebrating my new enterprise.

Funny thing about life.  We change.  Evolve.  Much like the many seemingly fortuitous twists and turns of life, often is the case with entrepreneurship.  There really is no way to know where your journey will take you - other than to simply let it take you there.  You might be surprised by where you end up -- but one day you will reflect and think of course!  This Steve Jobs quote seems rather fitting:  "You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.  So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.  You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.  This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."  Amen, Brotha Steve.  (Though may I add a little shout out to the big guy upstairs?  Above all, that is the voice I have most trusted along my path.)  When I reflect upon my personal journey thus far, my journey in business, and business name (aside from cringing a little... maybe a lot) I smile.  Cringe because I jumped the gun a few times and let the ideas escape my brain prematurely before they were fully developed or solidified... mostly on this blog.  The curse of being a passion driven individual -- sometimes that passion takes the reins.  But smile because it represents growth - the evolution of my business, vision, and even myself.  Rather than lamenting over the fact that I didn't get it quite right from the get-go... I really don't think I possibly could  have, as I needed things to progress in order to get to this point.  I refuse to grumble, or question the change -- I'm following my gut on this one.  I am choosing to embrace and celebrate the journey to "The One", and plan to move forward with gusto.  Oh, what a glorious day when the dots start to connect.  I have to say that it just feels right - when you know you know!  (Not only true for relationships, but businesses too!)  Who knew!?

I'm still me.  And I still offer photography services, of course!  I just came to realize over time that (for me) it's not just about photography.  While that has become one absolute true love of mine, and it is clearly an integral part of my business -- it's not everything.  There is a much bigger picture than that, which I will share with you over time.  It was time for my company name to evolve along with my vision.  I needed an all encompassing umbrella that would allow all the vital elements of this grander vision to come together, to feel comfy and at home - and one that would allow me to grow in the direction that I see my business going.  One that was a little more representative of all the things I do, and wish to be doing into the future.  My business model, offerings, and plans are decidedly different from many traditional photography companies... so I felt that my new name also had to reflect that.  (Not to mention the name just came to me one day, and when that happens -- I have a tendency to pay attention.)

So why Legacy Junction?

Because it's not just photography and it's not about me.
YOUR LIFE.  TANGIBLE.  AMPLIFIED.

It's about you.  Being, accepting, embracing, celebrating, discovering, empowering, loving, and rocking you.  Because when you are the best you, you can be... everything else comes together too.  You can love more deeply, give more freely, laugh more fully, and just embrace life a little more wholly.

Not only are we given the precious gift to "live"our lives everyday, but WE are the authors.  What a beautiful thing.  Yes, there are many things that we can't control, but ultimately we are all writing our own story, everyday.  Here at Legacy Junction, the goal is not only to help you tell a part of your story in a visual fashion that makes you proud.  But to encourage you to become all that you are capable of becoming.  To embrace your inner awesome, your uniqueness, beauty, individuality, quirkiness and passions -- to see your own bigger picture.  We humans are complex creatures, and as much as it is about capturing timeless images that celebrate the abundance of beauty in your life, there is a philosophy and culture at the heart of the matter which is of equal importance. It all goes hand in hand, and I have a hard time standing behind one without the other.  So without further ado: Welcome to Legacy Junction.  My new home, I hope you will take off your shoes and stay a while.
