HELLO DARLIN.

NICE TO SEE YA.

If you sang this line, we will get along juuuuuust fine. Thanks so much for taking the time to visit! Allow me to introduce myself, and attempt to summarize what it is that I’m doing here in the Blogosphere. (Key word is attempt. Those of you who know me know that I tend to write short novels for e-mails and my voice mails more closely resemble Shakespearian soliloquies than “call me backs.”) Runs in the family. Alas, that is I. Who am I you ask? Kathy… a not so typical Photographer. Greeting card business enthusiast. Multi-passionate entrepreneur. Idea girl. Dreamer. Lover of life. Happy. Most days my brain is racing so fast with ideas and things I want to do, that I feel I’m too passionate for my own good. Who am I not? Perfectly organized. A fantastic housekeeper or gardener. My shoe collection would make Carrie Bradshaw cringe, and I get more excited about a good vintage score at Frenchy’s than I ever would about a Prada purse. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a fine set of heels like the next girl, but I just don't believe we have to spend the family fortune to look put together. I’m a pretty simple gal who believes there is a time and a place for everything. Including but not limited to: gummy bears, boxed wine, Zoodles, Mr. Noodles and occasionally (okay... very occasionally) Beefaroni. There, I said it, and frankly it feels quite good to get it off my chest. So it's no secret that I am fairly passionate, and put a lot of heart and soul into the things that inspire me. That means in business and in life because I feel like the two are really intertwined anyway - "How you do anything is how you do everything!" I believe that Confucius was right when he said "Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it". I have realized over time that I can't help but see beauty. It is a problem at times. (Forget texting and driving, one shouldn't be permitted to "see beauty", or potential photo session locations for that matter, while driving.) I digress. When beauty jumps out of the world at you, it is easy to become passionate about photography - for me, it is a way to relay to others the beauty that I see in my minds eye. Life is short, this we all know. We are meant to enjoy it, appreciating and celebrating those who are important to us, in this lifetime. This blog is an immediate outlet for me to express and humour myself (and those who stumble by) attach sneak peeks of the happenings here at Legacy Junction Studios, offer fun contests and specials, and chronicle what’s going on in my crazy world. Feel free to sniff around - just promise not to laugh at my wordiness, okay? I truly can't resist! If you know me, you KNOW that is true! (To thine own self be true, no?) Thanks so much for stopping by. I’m so humbled and flattered that you’ve visited and would love to know! You’re welcome and encouraged to leave comments, and say hello!

50 SHADES OF COREY

Meet Corey Poirier, Canadian speaker, trainer, writer, singer/songwriter, radio show host, publisher of Island Business News and author of the Conversations with Canadians Series.  He's a man of many hats (to say the least) who has carved out his place in this world primarily by drawing out, absorbing and sharing the wisdom of others.  Through various means including playing host on his popular Conversations with Passion Radio Show, Corey has interviewed over 2500 high aspiring "super achievers" as he likes to call them.   I believe it takes a special person of character, confidence and integrity to build an entire career showcasing the brilliance of others, and Corey definitely wears those badges well.  Some might feel inferior -- as though praising or celebrating the wisdom, talents or accomplishments of others somehow diminishes their own worth, but not Corey.  He has found a true calling, and perfectly embodies one of my very favourite life mantras: "We rise by lifting others."  In offering various platforms and opportunities for people to share their stories, he has created a dream career for himself where he is able to breathe life into his Legacy Statement: To be a person who donates, motivates, inspires, entertains, and educates.

He is especially passionate about his role as a speaker, where he thrives on inspiring many minds at once with his knowledge -- up close and personal style.  What's ironic is that while Corey has always been high energy, he wasn't always a passionate or even positive individual.  By his own account he "wasn't exceptional", just an average person who stepped outside his comfort zone to find his passion and managed to ignite a flame (which has since become a roaring fire!)  He was raised by a single mother whom he was deeply influenced by, and subsequently feels enormously indebted to.  As he forged his way, the desire to learn became increasingly insatiable -- as did his desire to pay-it-forward and share the wisdom he acquired with others.  The guy who openly admits that he hadn't read an entire book until the age of 27, somewhere along the way had developed a hefty appetite to LEARN for the humblest of reasons: so he could simply share more, and impact others. These days, Corey is a vault of knowledge and loves to incorporate story telling into all that he does, as it is the lifeblood of it all. Whether it be in one of his many publications, articles or books, a segment on his radio show, on stage at a speaking engagement OR even as a stand up comedian (yet another hat that Corey wears) he draws from his vault to inspire others.

The main reason for this particular photo shoot was to grab a photo for the album cover, as well as promotion of Corey's new CD, "Evil Anthems", although we incorporated a few additional styles just for fun. It is Corey's 4th album, but his first true solo project. All of the songs are written by him, and he also does all the vocals, plays bass, rhythm guitar, electric and 6 + 12 string acoustic. This album has been a long time coming, with material being created as far back as 2002. Influenced by a dark, 'film noir-esque' Nick Cade album, Corey articulates that while these aren't evil songs, they do contain somewhat dark themes. His inspirations run the gamut, ranging from personal experiences and lost loves, to creating a voice for characters who mightn't otherwise speak for themselves. His musical stylings are at times tongue in cheek, and lend a storytelling folky/pop rock vibe. He has a couple music videos in the works that you can keep an eye out for as well. As if all of this wasn't enough (please see the ever appropriate "I Never Sleep" photo below) Corey is launching a new Podcast called Words of Wisdom (WOW). It will be a weekly series where he addresses questions from listeners, followed by featured interviews with high achievers where they share their insight. As you can see, he won't be slowing down anytime soon! Please feel free to head over to http://www.coreypoirier.com/www.coreypoirier.com if you would like to learn more about Corey and his offerings.
