HELLO DARLIN.

NICE TO SEE YA.

If you sang this line, we will get along juuuuuust fine. Thanks so much for taking the time to visit! Allow me to introduce myself, and attempt to summarize what it is that I’m doing here in the Blogosphere. (Key word is attempt. Those of you who know me know that I tend to write short novels for e-mails and my voice mails more closely resemble Shakespearian soliloquies than “call me backs.”) Runs in the family. Alas, that is I. Who am I you ask? Kathy… a not so typical Photographer. Greeting card business enthusiast. Multi-passionate entrepreneur. Idea girl. Dreamer. Lover of life. Happy. Most days my brain is racing so fast with ideas and things I want to do, that I feel I’m too passionate for my own good. Who am I not? Perfectly organized. A fantastic housekeeper or gardener. My shoe collection would make Carrie Bradshaw cringe, and I get more excited about a good vintage score at Frenchy’s than I ever would about a Prada purse. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a fine set of heels like the next girl, but I just don't believe we have to spend the family fortune to look put together. I’m a pretty simple gal who believes there is a time and a place for everything. Including but not limited to: gummy bears, boxed wine, Zoodles, Mr. Noodles and occasionally (okay... very occasionally) Beefaroni. There, I said it, and frankly it feels quite good to get it off my chest. So it's no secret that I am fairly passionate, and put a lot of heart and soul into the things that inspire me. That means in business and in life because I feel like the two are really intertwined anyway - "How you do anything is how you do everything!" I believe that Confucius was right when he said "Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it". I have realized over time that I can't help but see beauty. It is a problem at times. (Forget texting and driving, one shouldn't be permitted to "see beauty", or potential photo session locations for that matter, while driving.) I digress. When beauty jumps out of the world at you, it is easy to become passionate about photography - for me, it is a way to relay to others the beauty that I see in my minds eye. Life is short, this we all know. We are meant to enjoy it, appreciating and celebrating those who are important to us, in this lifetime. This blog is an immediate outlet for me to express and humour myself (and those who stumble by) attach sneak peeks of the happenings here at Legacy Junction Studios, offer fun contests and specials, and chronicle what’s going on in my crazy world. Feel free to sniff around - just promise not to laugh at my wordiness, okay? I truly can't resist! If you know me, you KNOW that is true! (To thine own self be true, no?) Thanks so much for stopping by. I’m so humbled and flattered that you’ve visited and would love to know! You’re welcome and encouraged to leave comments, and say hello!

INTENTION, HEART + PURPOSE

The people who inspire me most in this life, are those who are able to take their own unfortunate circumstances, events or painful experiences and spin them positive.  I stand in particular awe when it is done with the spirit of giving - triumph over pain not only for survival and the sake of self, but to eventually guide others through their own heartache. No, we typically do not see it as a way to serve others in the midst of our angst, but when it blossoms into such an opportunity -- it's a beautiful thing. Nothing is more gorgeous than surrendering to our most vulnerable selves, fighting through, pressing on, and desiring to inspire others through our own raw experience. It is entirely possible to not only survive our pain, struggle or strife, but supersede it for the betterment of our own lives, and ultimately the lives of others. I for one, believe that is why it is given to us. For every struggle one person faces, there are surely thousands who are encountering the same, with a desperate need for hope. What is your struggle? Have you found a way to bust down your own walls of masked perfection, embrace your vulnerability and truth, and conquer your pain? More importantly, have you found a way to inspire others in doing so? Patricia has. That is what I admire most about her, in fact. 15 years ago at the tender age of 27, Patricia went through the devastating loss of her mother. It was a life changing time for Patricia, not without it's moments of extreme despair. At that time, her mother was able to reflect on her 57 years on the planet with a deep sense of satisfaction and pride. She had raised two beautiful daughters, and felt at peace with her path; she had done what she wanted to do with her life. This realization created a reflective state of mind for Patricia, and she found herself questioning not only her career path, but her entire philosophy of life, love and purpose.

She quickly enrolled in a 2200 hour Massage Therapy program, and immediately began carving out a new path for herself. A life of service, where she could guide others towards becoming the healthiest, happiest version of themselves. While she was embarking on her new journey, she became inspired by the book "Simple Abundance" by Sarah Ban Breathnach. What resonated deeply was the concept that truly living and cultivating gratitude in the everyday leads to true happiness and a deeper sense of joy - and thus she began journalling the simple things she was most grateful for, every single day. 15 years, many gratitude journals and "Overlooked Blessings" lists later, and she is still going strong: Living a life with gratitude at the core, recognizing the extraordinary in the ordinary, and creating a fulfilling, joyful business and life. Although losing her mom was an undeniably devastating experience, it propelled her on a journey to discovering her true purpose, to realizing first hand the saving grace and powerful gift of gratitude, and ultimately empowered her to share and inspire others with her story. Patricia's journey has lead her to the recent opening of her new massage practice, Westwood Therapeutics in Tantallon Nova Scotia. It is here that she is able to fulfill her heart-centered work, putting her patients first and developing an authentic therapeutic relationship one to one.  She is also a respected educator who thrives on passing along her vast knowledge and empowering other R.M.T's. I am blessed to know this beautiful soul, and even more delighted that our business worlds have collided. Together, we are embarking on a mission to weave our driving forces of GRATITUDE and LEGACY into a beautiful tapestry, creating around us the very world we wish to live in.  One where kindness radiates, compassion reins, gratitude flows, and beauty and abundance abounds.

Thank you so much Kathy for spending the time and putting so much into your own "hearts" work. Helping people live their light, honouring and building a legacy that they can be proud of is certainly a specialty of yours and something that you do extremely well! I am forever grateful you chose me to showcase here on your blog, it really means so much to me.
