HELLO DARLIN.

NICE TO SEE YA.

If you sang this line, we will get along juuuuuust fine. Thanks so much for taking the time to visit! Allow me to introduce myself, and attempt to summarize what it is that I’m doing here in the Blogosphere. (Key word is attempt. Those of you who know me know that I tend to write short novels for e-mails and my voice mails more closely resemble Shakespearian soliloquies than “call me backs.”) Runs in the family. Alas, that is I. Who am I you ask? Kathy… a not so typical Photographer. Greeting card business enthusiast. Multi-passionate entrepreneur. Idea girl. Dreamer. Lover of life. Happy. Most days my brain is racing so fast with ideas and things I want to do, that I feel I’m too passionate for my own good. Who am I not? Perfectly organized. A fantastic housekeeper or gardener. My shoe collection would make Carrie Bradshaw cringe, and I get more excited about a good vintage score at Frenchy’s than I ever would about a Prada purse. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a fine set of heels like the next girl, but I just don't believe we have to spend the family fortune to look put together. I’m a pretty simple gal who believes there is a time and a place for everything. Including but not limited to: gummy bears, boxed wine, Zoodles, Mr. Noodles and occasionally (okay... very occasionally) Beefaroni. There, I said it, and frankly it feels quite good to get it off my chest. So it's no secret that I am fairly passionate, and put a lot of heart and soul into the things that inspire me. That means in business and in life because I feel like the two are really intertwined anyway - "How you do anything is how you do everything!" I believe that Confucius was right when he said "Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it". I have realized over time that I can't help but see beauty. It is a problem at times. (Forget texting and driving, one shouldn't be permitted to "see beauty", or potential photo session locations for that matter, while driving.) I digress. When beauty jumps out of the world at you, it is easy to become passionate about photography - for me, it is a way to relay to others the beauty that I see in my minds eye. Life is short, this we all know. We are meant to enjoy it, appreciating and celebrating those who are important to us, in this lifetime. This blog is an immediate outlet for me to express and humour myself (and those who stumble by) attach sneak peeks of the happenings here at Legacy Junction Studios, offer fun contests and specials, and chronicle what’s going on in my crazy world. Feel free to sniff around - just promise not to laugh at my wordiness, okay? I truly can't resist! If you know me, you KNOW that is true! (To thine own self be true, no?) Thanks so much for stopping by. I’m so humbled and flattered that you’ve visited and would love to know! You’re welcome and encouraged to leave comments, and say hello!

THE BIZ SHIZ

2014 was a transitional year for me, one that brought me back to my home province of New Brunswick - a welcome change. Now is a time of new beginnings, new connections, friendships, business relationships and opportunities -- a time to get comfortable with being uncomfortable!  You may have noticed that I don't really do things "by the book" here at Legacy Junction, and in fact, I take it as a huge compliment if you have noticed!  Although photography is obviously an important part of the equation, it's certainly not all.  I personally believe that we are always evolving as humans, and that our businesses not only can, but should reflect this growth if we wish to function at our highest capacity.  Over time, I have become increasingly aware of my intrigues, desires and fortes as a photographer and entrepreneur (not to mention my weaknesses and shortcomings) as those are not to be ignored.  I strive to have businesses that are representative of, and in alignment with who I truly am as a person - which means as I grow and change, everything else should follow suit.  If we wish to be fulfilled in our work (who doesn't?) of utmost service, and in authentic alignment with our purpose, we must take time to be reflective, introspective and acutely aware of our ongoing personal evolution.  Not only that, but we must be visionary and bold enough to make the necessary changes as we go, in order to actually live out the desires of our hearts.  I want this for others, just as deeply as I desire it for myself.

So what does this mean for Legacy Junction, you ask?  Our ultimate goal has always been to encapsulate the essence of you -- you in your best light -- while encouraging you to delve far deeper than the physical, and actually LIVE your light {as the tagline goes.}  As much as it's about capturing timeless images that celebrate the abundance of beauty in your life, there is a philosophy and culture at the heart of the matter which is of equal importance.  We are multi-dimensional, complex beings - a package deal.  It all goes hand in hand, and as bizarre as this might seem for "a photographer" to say, I have a hard focusing solely on outward appearances when I wholeheartedly believe that there is so much more to us than what we look like.  I believe that true beauty is more of an aura that radiates through who you ARE.  It's about character.  Heart.  Your laugh.  How you think, what you have to say, what you do, caring about others, the charisma, charm, and idiosyncrasies, that make you uniquely YOU. A pretty face paired with an ugly heart does not equate beauty in my books -- not even close.  "Beauty is not in the face. Beauty is a light in the heart." - Kahlil Gibran I do however, strive to breathe new life into your story, and help you tell it with a refreshed perspective, in a compelling visual fashion that makes you beam with pride.  To encourage you to become all that you are capable of becoming: to embrace your uniqueness, individuality, quirkiness, vulnerability and passions and to see the bigger picture of your life -- to actualize your own magnificence -- and to celebrate it too.  It really is about being you, the absolute best version of that person you can muster.  Because when you are the best you, you can be... everything else comes together too, and the world benefits.  You can love more deeply, give more freely, laugh more fully, and just embrace life a little more wholly.  The best part is, when you "LIVE YOUR LIGHT", others become inspired and empowered to live theirs as well.

I have said it before, and I will say it again:

IT'S NOT JUST PHOTOGRAPHY, AND IT'S NOT ABOUT ME.
YOUR LIFE. TANGIBLE. AMPLIFIED

The important part here is how all of this equates to YOUR BUSINESS! Everything that Legacy Junction stands for is still in tact, and I fully intend to continue celebrating you, your family, and your moments - but you had better believe we are going to be celebrating your business, as well!  It's time to expand horizons to really encompass something that is SO near and dear to many people's hearts. You don't even have to tell me how important your business is to you. I get it. It's a vital part of who you are, likely contains years of your life, copious amounts of your blood, sweat and tears, and is beyond worthy of being showcased in a positive light.  It's time to dissect what makes you stand out, and bring that to the forefront in a flattering way through a combination of imagery and words.  We will work together to create not only beautiful photos that you will adore and can put to good use, but also a feature that you are proud to share.  It brings me great pleasure to offer you a platform to put your best foot forward, and not only encapsulate, but project your business and story.   Personally, I am fascinated by business.  Connecting with creative and inspired Entrepreneurs genuinely floats my boat, and I thrive on bringing your story to life using a combination of skills I have honed over the years.  As an entrepreneur myself I know first hand that it is far easier to have someone else celebrate and promote your talents, than doing it yourself. Most people have not mastered the art of self-promotion (if there is such an art).  I have struggled myself with striking a balance between what feels natural, true and right for me (humility) and needing to be open, vulnerable and bold.  Perhaps you too?  What I have come to deeply believe is that it is entirely possible to remain who you are at the core.  For you as a creative/entrepreneur/business person to get your mission, passion, project or purpose out there without feeling pitchy/slimy/sleezy/salesy or annoying. Believe me, I have gone out of my way to avoid feeling this way... because truthfully, I have witnessed others doing it, and it's just not what I'm after. Especially when you know it can be done with class, integrity, and the "yes feeling", instead of the "heebie jeebies".  Nobody wants to be around anyone who in an egotistical, perpetual state of self promotion. It just gets old after a while.  It's GOOD to be of service.  To let others know your story.  What you do.  Why you do it. What gets your knickers in a glorious knot.  I know this might make you feel vulnerable, but it's important.  Sometimes your story or facets of it, can be articulated in a new light by someone else.  Allow yourself to be seen, and celebrated.  Each profile will be entirely unique, and tailored to suit your business, product, service and goals.  I am open to discussing ideas, let's talk! Did I mention that I have a hankering for adventure?  If you really want to take this to another level, consider incorporating your signature experience and having it showcased.
